June 7, 2022
SALT LAKE CITY (June 7, 2022) — The NBA 2K League announced today that Jazz Gaming center Spencer “Ria” Wyman has been named the NBA 2K League Player of the Week for Week 8 of Season 5.
The Shoreline, Wash., native led Jazz Gaming throughout the week, averaging 22.3 points, 17.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 2.3 blocks per game while shooting 80.6 percent (30-36 FGA) from the floor. Ria’s stellar week included a career night against T-Wolves Gaming in which the center tallied a season-high 36 points (16-19 FGA) and a career-high 24 rebounds to go along with three assists, four steals and three blocks in the NBA 2K League’s “Game of the Week.”
The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft, Ria adds his first career Player of the Week award to his growing list of accolades that includes back-to-back All-NBA 2K League First Team awards (2020-21), NBA 2K All-Defensive Team (2020) and 2021 NBA 2K League Three-For-All All-Tournament Team.
“We are all very proud of Ria for receiving his first Player of the Week award,” said Jazz Gaming head coach Jelani “Comp” Mitchell. “It is very difficult for a center to earn this recognition and it is a testament to the hard work he has put in over the years. He is a leader of this team, and this is a well-deserved honor.”
This is the second time this season a member of Jazz Gaming has been named Player of the Week. Point guard Kimanni “Splashy” Ingram received the award during Week 2 in April.
The reigning NBA 2K League Player of the Week, Ria will lead Jazz Gaming into the bracket portion of THE TURN powered by AT&T at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 in a single-elimination matchup against Knicks Gaming. The winner of Wednesday night’s showdown will advance to the best-of-three quarterfinals that will take place on June 9 and 10.
The tournament will wrap up on Saturday, June 11 with the semifinals and finals, also in a best-of three format. The winner of the bracket play will take home a cash prize of $100,000.
All Jazz Gaming games are simulcast live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
