First stage of draft qualifications also announced
SALT LAKE CITY (December 13, 2017) – Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment today revealed the team branding for its entry in the inaugural NBA 2K League.
Jazz Gaming, which will be one of 17 teams participating in the NBA 2K League set to debut in May 2018, will serve as the official name of the team. The logos, social media channels and Jazz Gaming staff were also announced.

Miller Sports & Entertainment. “We are proud to be one of the original teams in this new league, which will offer unprecedented access and opportunity to all gamers based on their playing skills, and we look forward to connecting with a new audience through NBA 2K.”
The primary icon and global logos, created by RARE Design in collaboration with the NBA 2K League, pay tribute to the Jazz as well as the state of Utah. It features the letter “U” in the color white in the shape of the state of Utah. It is tilted at 66 degrees, with the drop shadow forming the letter “J” in gold and outlined in navy. The secondary logo features “Jazz Gaming” with a beamed pair of eighth notes in place of the “A” in Jazz.
Jazz Gaming social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram and Facebook: @UtahJazzGaming) are currently active and open to follow. Esports fans can follow the team through the perspective of the Jazz Gaming staff, as well as the players, as they tweet about various aspects of the inaugural season of the NBA 2K League.
Jazz Gaming Staff
Josh Barney has been named the director of esports and technology for Jazz Gaming and is responsible for the strategic planning and marketing for the team in the esports space. Barney has been with the Utah Jazz for nearly a decade, with his most recent role being the Director of Technology & Innovation, where he helped update the technology during the recent renovation of Vivint Smart Home Arena. Barney graduated from Weber State with a degree in Telecommunications.
Angie Klingsieck will be the team’s manager, directing the day-to-day aspects of the team along with overseeing the social media channels. Klingsieck founded Crimson Gaming at the University of Utah, which is an all-inclusive organization for gaming and esports enthusiasts. Due to the group’s popularity, the University of Utah established the first varsity esports program among the Power 5 athletic conference: Utah Esports.
The first stage of qualifying for the NBA 2K League will take place during January 2018, and is open to anyone around the world who has a copy of NBA 2K18 (PlayStation 4 or Xbox One) and is 18 or older. In order for gamers to be invited to the next round of tryouts in February, they will need to win 50 games in NBA 2K18’s Pro-Am mode, which is played 5-on-5, and complete an online application by Jan. 31.
After the final round of tryouts in February, the best players will be selected for the draft which will take place in March. Each of the 17 teams participating in the inaugural season will draft five players who will live in-market during the season.
The season tips off in May 2018, with games taking place in one or two central studios for the inaugural season.
