NBA 2K League play begins with THE TIPOFF tournament on March 24
SALT LAKE CITY (February 27, 2020) – The 2020 NBA 2K League season will begin with THE TIPOFF powered by AT&T on Tuesday, March 24, as Jazz Gaming enters competition alongside 22 other teams in the professional esports league’s third campaign.
The NBA 2K League today unveiled the complete schedule, which is comprised of 16 regular season games and three in-season tournaments. This season, the NBA 2K League will move its studio to a 13,600 square-foot space located at 508 West 37th Street in Manhattan with a capacity of 200 people.
“We’re eager to get to work and continue growing as a team and organization this season,” said Jazz Gaming Head Coach Jelani “Comp” Mitchell. “We’re looking to build off of last year’s foundation that we created with our three returning players while adding new faces and personalities to the fold.”
New this season, select NBA 2K League teams will host rivalry matches and round-robin events in their local markets. All rivalry matches and round-robin games will count toward a team’s regular-season record, with the exception of the round-robin championship games. Each round-robin event will have a total prize pool of $20,000 with the winner of the championship game receiving $15,000.
Jazz Gaming will travel to Dallas during Week 12 of the regular season to play against Mavs Gaming (Dallas Mavericks affiliate), Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai and Grizz Gaming (Memphis Grizzlies affiliate) on Friday, June 26.
Jazz Gaming will begin the regular season on Friday, April 3 against Hornets Venom GT (Charlotte Hornets affiliate). The game will feature Jazz Gaming guard Fredrick “GetOnMyLevel” Whelan facing off against his twin brother, Alexander “Expose” Whelan, in the first-ever matchup of twins in NBA 2K League history.

All 23 teams will compete in THE TIPOFF and THE TURN. The 14 teams that are not one of the top nine playoff seeds will compete in THE TICKET, which will see the winning team earn the 10th and final spot in the 2020 NBA 2K League Playoffs beginning on Wednesday, July 29.
During the 2020 season, the NBA 2K League will award $1.4 million in prize money across THE TIPOFF and THE TURN, the six round-robin local events and the NBA 2K League Playoffs.
Jazz Gaming is entering its third season in the NBA 2K League. The roster features three returning players: Shaka “Yeah I Compete” Browne, who was the franchise’s first-ever selection in the 2018 NBA 2K League Draft (third overall); Lytel “Lotty” Martin, who was acquired in 2019 in a midseason trade with Heat Check Gaming; and 2019 No. 1 overall selection Spencer “Ria” Wyman, who led the team in scoring last year (15.7).
The six-person roster was completed at last week’s NBA 2K League Draft, where the team made three selections:Kimanni “Splashy” Ingram (10th overall), Fredrick “GetOnMyLevel” Whelan (31st overall) and Brent “Lord Beezus” Aasgaard (57th overall).
